What is Transmitter (Tx)?

A Transmitter (Tx) is a component in a wireless display system that sends video and audio signals from a source device to a Receiver (Rx).

Users may pair their transmitters with the DisplayPass Transmitter application, while DisplayPass hardware products are also compatible with the Receiver app.

DisplayPass Point-to-Point wireless display devices are compact and effective. They deliver outstanding full-HD visual performance with the latency as low as 50ms, nearly imperceptible for display use. It’s a portable and cross-platform solution that simplifies the traditional wired setups that lead to challenges in long-distance or BYOD scenarios. You can find them here.

Originally designed and sold in a bundle with hardware Receivers, DisplayPass extends the use of Tx dongles without requiring their hardware counterpart. By connecting DisplayPass Receiver app to a public or private Wi-Fi network, users can follow on-screen pairing instructions for their Tx. After scanning the QR code and enabling the Wi-Fi mode on the hardware Tx, the mirrored screen will instantly appear on the Rx app. Auto-pairing through USB port is also possible with proprietary firmware solutions.

While any end of transmission that adopts software solution may introduce additional latency—since it relies on the device’s built-in Wi-Fi rather than a dedicated chip—it offers greater flexibility and broader connectivity options. This embodies DisplayPass’s value proposition for all-scenario wireless display.
